STUDENTS from various shire schools got to meet some furry friends at the Carcase Competitions last week.

The education was enriching with many students eager to raise their hand for questions.

Dog Handler Tim Flynn has been giving dog shows for decades.

He has been working in Central Queensland in the past few years but has been a drover all around the country.

He said he has always had a passion for dogs because “they make the job a lot easier”.

“You can really get a lot achieved with well-trained dogs,” he said.

Mr Flynn thinks smaller farms around the shire can benefit from dogs where there may be a labour shortage.

“Their efficiency can really make up for [it],” he said.

Mr Flynn will be looking at starting up a dog training school within the next year.
